On Friday 1st of February, the release date of the AS & A-level exam papers, the 3D Design department embarked on a trip to London in order to explore and research themes and designers that might inspire their new project.
Most students spent most of their time within the V&A where they were exposed to an abundance of interesting designs ranging from contemporary - Furniture, Jewelry, Architecture, Glasswork etc. to, more traditional sculpture, fashion and metalwork.
They were fortunate to be surrounded by some of the most influential designs of the 20th/21st centuary by designers and architects such as: Bill Dunster, Verner Panton, Sir Norman Foster, Sebastian Brajkovic, Yuya Ushida, Joris Laarman and John Makepeace. (some examples below)
Students spent their time sketching, writing and taking photographs in order to further explore, refine and gather research, which has proved to be an invaluable experience and insight for all those who are now embarking on their design exam projects.
Many thanks to all staff involved.
